University of Nairobi is where it affected my career choices, and where I obtained my undergraduate and PhD qualifications.

Moi University

Moi is where I was honoured as their External Examiner for more than 12 years and where I was honoured with a higher doctorate, DSc.

Strathmore University

Strathmore is where my youth was shaped when it was still a college and later when I had the honour of granting it a Letter of Interim Authority to offer degree courses when I was the Chairman of the Commission for Higher Education now renamed Commission for University Education.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)

JKUAT is the universitity I participated in its elevation to university status when I was a member of University Council and it Vice Chairman.

United States International University-Africa (USIU)

USIU is where I assisted in developing its campus when I was the Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Commission for Higher Education and later its chairman; and also an institution where four of my children undertook their 1st degrees.

Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) Partnership with JKUAT

KEMRI is an institution I directly participated in its development from its infancy to become one of the leading medical research institutions in the world. Here is where I spent my prime professional life in my public service. This is also the one institution I was privileged to serve as its Chief Executive for more than 20 years. My dual role as the CEO of KEMRI and as the Vice Chairman of JKUAT made it possible to establish a joint KEMRI-JKUAT graduate programme for Masters and Doctoral qualifications at the “Institute of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases (ITROMID)”.

As a graduate student, this is where I demonstrated the mechanism of apoptosis in glial cell tumours in vitro.

Harvard University

Harvard University Medical School, Boston, MA (1978). This is where, as a doctoral student, I demonstrated the mechanism of glucose metabolism in macrophages; and later participated in the establishment of the Biology of Parasitism training in joint collaboration with the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL), Cape Cod, MA.
